Commonly Asked Questions
When to place an order?
We begin accepting orders at the end of each year. Once an order is placed it will be added to our order list. We ship our egg orders in the order they are received. If you desire to have eggs as early as possible we encourage you to place your order early.
How will I know when my order will ship.
We begin shipping some eggs in late April, this depends on weather and breeds as some birds need certain temperatures or amounts of day light to begin laying. We will send out an email a day or two before your order ships. This will give you about 3-5 days to get your incubator set-up and ready to go.
Can I order a mix of different breeds to make up a certain quantity?
Yes. This must be done by emailing [email protected]. We will send you and electronic invoice to be paid. An additional processing fee of 5% will be charged for special orders.
Can I order smaller quantities than what is currently offered?
No. We offer the quantities we do to maximize efficiency, and shipping rates.
What happens if my package is damaged in shipping?
If you receive a damaged box of hatching eggs, STOP. Do not open them before you take photos of the unopened box from multiple sides and make sure to include a clear photo of the undamaged label. This will help with any claims that need to be made. We package our eggs in foam egg shippers and send a few extra eggs with each order to help cover issues. Since the postal service does still damage boxes on occasion, there is $50 insurance on each package shipped through USPS priority mail. Any claims needed to be made must be made by the customer, not West Michigan Game Birds. If more than 50% of the order is damaged West Michigan Game Birds can either refund or replace the damaged portion of the order. This is done as a curtesy and will be left up to management to make refund or replacement decisions on a case by case basis. West Michigan Game Birds is not responsible for packages damaged in shipping.
What guarantees are there on hatching eggs?
We do everything we can to make sure we ship high quality fertile hatching eggs. Once they leave our possession we are not responsible for shipping condition, fertility, or hatch rates. The purchaser assumes all risk after the order is shipped.
Can I make changes to my order?
Yes. All changes must be requested via email [email protected] If the changes require additional charges you will be sent an electronic invoice that must be paid before the changes are made. If the invoice is not paid before the order is ready to be shipped, the original order will be shipped with no changes made.
Can I cancel or delay my order?
Yes. Delaying an order must be requested by email to [email protected]. Delaying an order must be done before the shipping notification email is sent out, if done after the shipping notification email is sent we cannot guarantee the ability to delay the order. Delaying an order may cause it not to be shipped during that laying season. If this is the case the order can either be move to the following season or refunded (if refunded cancelation fees will apply)
